[ juno keeps just a pace ahead of him, nearly flanking him to keep track of him in the peripheral of the theia - he doesn't want to lose this guy in the near white out. for a second he thinks about the remark, humming a little. ]
I mean, it was constructed, so? Kind of? It's a cybernetic implant.
<[A what what what....? Only the word 'implant' even vaguely makes sense to Caleb, and it's a strange context. He's looking over at Juno even more curiously now.]
Something mechanical animated through magical means. Or at least in my world it...would have been.
[There's still magic here! So maybe. But Caleb is vaguely aware than not all worlds that people come from have magic.]
[ ew don't look at him like that. juno averts his eyes just a little, focuses half on the way they're going (towards the blips of warmth in his sightline) and half on the guy's voice. ]
It's all wired into... my eye and stuff. I don't know really, I'm not a brain surgeon. But it's about as close to this "construct" thing as you'd get since there's no magic where I'm from.
[Luckily for Juno, Caleb is also extremely attention-avoidant. He isn't always the most socially perceptive, but he does pick up on the way Juno looks away from him and decides to spare him any more focused attention. So now they're both looking off slightly into the distance.
It doesn't mean he's less interested in what Juno has to say, though. Wired....into his eye? That sounds a bit gruesome, to be honest. Caleb isn't sure he likes thinking about that.
[ juno didn't actually expect that to be a real thing, but also, he's already encountered some pretty weird stuff going around. this tracks for the most part when it comes to how varied this place can be.
ultimately, this means one thing to him: ]
So do you like... make doves fly out of your big coat or pull hankies out of your sleeve?
[Well that's.....not what he would have expected to be asked. Why would he do that? Caleb's attention swings back to Juno, brows furrowing. Not annoyed, just--]
Was? [Surprised enough to slip into Zemnian for a moment.] Ah, no? I suppose I could but...I don't see what that has to do with magic?
[Instead of answering Juno's question with, you know, actual words Caleb instead pulls off one of his gloves. Almost immediately his hand is very cold but he solves that pretty quickly.
By lighting it on fire. Or, well, it kind of looks like it's on fire. He makes a pass with his gloved hand and murmurs a few words and suddenly his hand blackens and the skin begins to flake.
Which probably looks....intense. But Caleb doesn't look like he's in any pain at all. There's definitely heat though, if Juno gets close enough.]

[ mostly joking: ]
Are you a magician or something?

Luckily, Juno is asking him a question.]
I am practiced in the arcane, ja. A wizard.
[Totally deadpan, and pretty clearly sincere.]

[So, stage magicians. Not an Exandrian thing.]
what's up i'm late as shit /winces
That's the only kind of magic I know about. And most of it's just fake - all smoke and mirrors.
[ this guy is pulling his leg. that's it. ]
So what kind of wizardy magic do you do?
